Water Wheel Ceremony at Walk in Peace Ranch, Kansas Sept. 21, 2013

(also being celebrated as International Day of Peace)
Submitted by Sandy Dinwiddie

An hour east of Wichita, Kansas lies the scenic terrain of rolling hills covered in swaying prairie grass called the Flint Hills. Nestled in a peaceful valley you'll find "Walk in Peace Ranch". It's owner and visionary is Lonetta Lollar, a beautiful sprite of a spirit. She has reserved 38 acres of the 200 acre ranch for the Peace Garden which is located atop two hills across the road from the lodge. Lonetta began creating this Peace Garden a little over a year ago which included an amazing Labyrinth, the Starhenge, and The Spirit Stones. Nestled between the Spirit Stones and the Starhenge was an open piece of land that Lonetta thought would remain open. Last November she met Marshall "Golden Eagle" Jack and learned about Water Wheels and the ceremonies involved with honoring our water sources locally and globally. I met Lonetta at the same event and we remained in contact. When she learned that I had started to work with the waters and had created a Water Wheel in my backyard, she asked me if I would come to Walk in Peace Ranch and perform the ceremony so that we would create another Water Wheel for the planet.

Water Wheel located next to the Spirit Stones Circle

Seven women came together on this bright, hot, cloudless day that radiated energy. I gathered the women inside the cool lodge, before going up to the hill, so that I could tell them why we were doing this ceremony. I shared the stories that Marshall tells of how the elders of his Paiute tribe would be gone for weeks in the spring. When he asked his grandmother where they had gone she told him that they were in the mountains performing ceremony for the waters to keep them healthy and remembering their crystalline form through prayers, offerings, crystals, and speaking with all of nature. The generation before Marshall lost their connections to their culture and healing ways so the ceremonies stopped when the old ones could no longer make the walk into the mountains. The people started to see disease in the pine trees for the first time. They also saw boils on the rabbits and deer. No one was continuing the ceremonies to honor and give gratitude to the water and all that found life through this source were getting sick. Some years ago, Marshall accepted the challenge to restart ceremonies from his visions of what was needed at this time. Through these Water Wheels and through working with the local water sources and their tributaries he has traveled greatly performing ceremonies and teaching others along the way how to bring the honoring and healing of our local and global waters back. As we do this, we are taking up the journey of reconnecting ourselves with the Blood of Mother Earth, our most valuable element on the planet.

We were blessed to have Sharon, a native, Alaskan Aleut, drum maker and performer with us that weekend. She graciously agreed to drum on Lonetta's council drum throughout the ceremony. I had explained to the women how important it was to connect with Spirit, the wheel, the water, and with each other through our heart's coherence. We would be dancing in opposite directions for twelve cycles until the energy was sufficient to create the vortex necessary to bring down the energy from the galactic realms and anchor it into the center of the wheel in the crystal altar. If I felt that the energy was waning I would ask them to pick it up.

The women were terrific and did their best with joy in their hearts. But a time came when I sensed the waning energy and I pointed this out to everyone and asked that they "kick it up". Sharon instantaneously changed the beating of the drum as she applied both of the drum sticks with such energy and love. Everyone immediately was re-energized and the dancing took on new vigor and passion. It was palpable. As we continued to dance and sing and pray, I quietly asked Spirit to give me a sign and let me know when we had accomplished our goal and it would be okay to stop. After a few minutes, I saw a white butterfly fly from west to east, followed quickly by a yellow butterfly along the same path. In only moments, a grasshopper jumped into the center of the circle, then a dragonfly flew by, next a silver looking object, that I can't identify, drifted overhead the span of the Water Wheel and the Spirit Stones from south to north. Beyond the Spirit Stone Circle were 4 buzzards circling over the distant fields. As I watched them they kept approaching until they were circling overhead. Lastly, a small, single, engine plane flew extremely low toward us from south to north. As it got closer we waved and the pilot dipped his wings in response, came around and circled overhead before flying away. I thanked Spirit for the signs and for the energy that was sent for the ceremony and told them, "got it!"

Giving joy and gratitude to Great Spirit

We each selected seven, clear, quartz crystals to be buried in the six outer points and at the center of the wheel in the crystal altar. Large rose quartz crystals were placed over all of the seven burial holes as capstones. The day and the ceremony were wonderful and we capped it off with the light hearted activity of blowing bubbles.

Water Wheel Confluence of Columbia & Willametter Rivers

Portland, Oregon—

Ellen Trichter, Hana, and I journeyed to the confluence of the Columbia and Willamette River in Portland, Oregon after the Summer Solstice to create a Water Wheel and bless the rivers. Powerful energies. We saw the Goddess of the Rivers!!! She thanks us for our prayers and Earth Medicine.

Colorado & Green River Confluence

Water Wheel for the River Serpent of the Colorado River.

This crystal was placed in the confluence (marriage) of the Colorado River & the Green River. Marshall Jack called it the "wedding ring". I was blessed to journey on a rafting trip through the Cataract Canyon at Summer Solstice Time. It completed some energy about the 8-month ceremony for the waters that Marshall did in 2010.

Interestingly, the river guides said that 2011 was an epic year for water level on the Colorado.... hmmmmm wonder why!

Deschuttes River Water Medicine Wheel

It is spring in the Columbia River Gorge, and I took 2 of my sons and my grandson on a hike up the Deschuttes River, which empties into the Columbia River.  It was a magical experience for me as I heard the elementals calling that day.  My intention was to create this wheel with my family and to collect sage to make bundles, and be in nature with my family.  It was a healing experience sharing this nature hike together.  I sang as I dug the holes and set the crystals that had been charged into a bowl of water from the river.  I added other waters from ceremonies along with water from my personal water wheel at home.  My sons sat on a bench nearby and ate and cavorted.  They respected the space I was creating, and individually offered their unique energy to this co-creative process of getting rocks out of the river and putting the crystals in the holes.  Rhythms (my 36 year old step-son slapped his thighs in a beat that went with my gutteral and high tones), my grandson played sticks, and my 28 year old son joined in with child-like abandon as he tossed his crystals into each hole.  I sang and prayed with the elementals and when all was done and the wheel set, my 3 boys left and hiked up the canyon.  I stayed behind and sat next to the wheel on soft, long grass while I bundled the sweet desert sage, singing all the while in prayerful love.  The sage filled the air with a sweetness like no other.  This was a good day, as another wheel spins.  I am learning through co-
creating these wheels, that each is different and unique.  It matters not so much on the exact process of each wheel.  It can be as simple as a bowl of water placed on a mantel and prayed with, or as complex as the energy that the group holds.  It is important that we gather our human energy and intentionally offer to the earth the heart of humanity.  However each of us is inspired to contribute (as with the example of my family dynamics) co-creating the wheel on the Deschuttes River.  The crystals and design of the wheel not only set the intention along with our human imput, but carry the energy through the waters of the Earth.  In my practice I find I can link up to these wheels with simply thinking about them, visualizing the spinning and adding my energy from wherever I might be physically.  It is as simple as a thought.  That is what makes it easy.  We are always connected whether we are conscious or not.  And we can choose to connect consciously at any time.  It is in this simplicity that all worries and fears are insignificant, and the Heart of Humanity, co-creating with Divine Intelligence, sets forth a new crystalline grid on our Beloved Mother Earth.  A cradle of love and light holding her gently as she-rebirths.  In spirit, EllieCollapse this post

water wheel in my home

this is my water wheel in my home.  It is very active and changing, often calling for flower essences, waters to be added, crystals turned or moved.  When it is called for I empty this water into other waterways, charge crystals to be put in waters around the world, or buried in the earth.  It is outside in the spring, summer, and fall, and moves indoors for the winter.  I always ask permission to work with her, and I feel blessed to be chosen to do this work.

Water Ceremonies for Clear Creek Texas 3-26-13

submitted by Sandy Dinwiddie

This was my first experience to perform water ceremonies from the headwaters, downstream, and ending at the mouth of a water source. My home in Clear Lake City is named after the creek that forms this lake and where NASA Space Center is located. The creek has been polluted for at least the last 30 years but particularly since the Brio Superfund Site was identified 24 years ago on March 31, 1989. There are still advisories to not eat the fish from this creek even after remediation was completed.

Two friends and I went to the head water of Clear Creek in the northwest corner of Ft. Bend County. Due to 4 years of drought the actual head water is now dry but we located water as close as we could to the original site. After asking for and receiving permission from the creek to perform these ceremonies, we set out to honor the Grandmother of the Waters and all of the devas that take care of the surrounding vegetation along this water way. We each gave offerings of tobacco; blessed, blue cornmeal; and a total of 16 blessed and energized crystals to all of these spirit entities and to the water and land. I cleared a small patch of ground to scratch out a miniature water wheel where I buried 7 blessed crystals, outlined the concentric circles in blue cornmeal, and created the vortex with the laser like energy coming from my fingers. My sister-in-law, Joanie, from California, saw the water breathing with undulations up and down after this was done.

From the head water, we drove to Randolph Park in Friendswood, Texas where we accessed Clear Creek below the Brio Superfund Site. This location was again honored with prayers and offerings of tabacco, blessed blue cornmeal, and a total 66 crystals. As we walked along the bluff above the creek we listened to birds and the wind as we made our offerings. I spoke to the Grandmother of the water and told her that I felt her pain because my solar plexus was hurting so much. After this statement a gust of wind came up and I ackowledged Grandmother. I asked her for forgiveness for all that had been done to her in ignornance. I later asked if our apologies and gifts had been accepted. She replied, "Yes", and tears came to my eyes.
We spent some time there communing with our surroundings and found a way down to the shore next to the creek. We were struck by how beautiful and peaceful it felt.

Above are Joanie Leach and Liz Dina at Randolph Park. Our last stop was the mouth of Clear Creek after it had traveled through Clear Lake to Galveston Bay and the Gulf of Mexico at Kemah, Texas. Again we offered our prayers, tobacco, and 3 crystals to the joining of Clear Creek with Galveston Bay.

This felt like such a priviledge to perform these offerings and to send our intentions to heal this water way. Please pray for this water source, Clear Creek and Clear Lake. As I write this blog it has been 5 days since the ceremony. The Thunderbeings are speaking and areas around us are receiving some rain. Thank you, Spirit.
